UDL Masterclass 3:
UDL, Accessibility, and Academic Accommodations
Course description
The connections and tensions between UDL, accessibility, and academic accommodations can be confusing terrains to navigate in post-secondary institutions. These three important areas do overlap in some ways, but also have significant and numerous distinctions that impact processes, practices, and people. In this Masterclass, you will challenge your assumptions and deepen your understanding of how UDL, accessibility, and academic accommodations interconnect, and apply that understanding to your current work practices, policies, and projects.
Is this Masterclass for you?
This Masterclass is a fit for you if your work intersects with UDL, accessibility, and academic accommodations, and you are seeking clear and practical ways to clarify the role of each in your work and your work with others in your organization.
What are the learning outcomes?
Each UDL Masterclass has a combination of shared and personalized learning outcomes. You will design your own personalized learning outcomes in consultation with the facilitator. The shared learning outcomes for this course are:
Determine the similarities and differences between UDL, accessibility, and academic accommodations
Analyze current practices, policies, processes, or projects that intersect UDL, accessibility and/or academic accommodations
How will you be assessed?
Assessment will be ongoing and focus on providing mastery-oriented feedback that guides you toward individual growth and mastery rather than a predetermined standard. There will be options for self, peer, and facilitator led assessments. The shared and personalized learning outcomes will guide the feedback and assessment.
