The Real UDL Workshop
Book this one-hour virtual workshop to help your team make real UDL changes in their practice.
What's this workshop about?
This workshop is about what you need to learn right now about UDL. You choose an area of focus, then you and I collaboratively customize the workshop to align with your goals, situational factors, the team’s background knowledge, and the desired results. Areas of focus could be:
UDL and assessment
UDL and faculty development
UDL and teaching strategies
UDL and lesson design
UDL and course design
UDL and lecture based lessons
UDL and student services
How do you get results with a one hour workshop?
Instead of delivering a canned, one-size-fits-all workshop, I work with you to customize learning goals, themes, and priorities that make sense for your faculty and your context. Let’s acknowledge that no one can learn everything about UDL in a one time workshop, and instead, I help you strategically pick an areas of focus to anchor the UDL learning during the workshop. Then, I skip the long presentation that overloads attendees with too much information. Instead, I offer a short overview of UDL and your area of focus, then switch to a conversational format with 1-3 of your team members to learn through a dynamic UDL discussion.
How is this workshop different?
This workshop is not a generic UDL presentation that leaves your team feeling like their questions were left unanswered. I take the time to truly understand your current UDL landscape, and help to create a workshop that is both engaging and helpful to your team.
What is the workshop format?
This workshop format is custom, collegial, and conversational. The hour will begin with a short overview of UDL based on your UDL area of focus. Next, I will have a Q&A session with a few people from your team. This creates and informal and informative way to share relevant UDL information, examples, and practices. The colleagues act as reps of their colleagues so instead of a UDL expert being the sage on the stage, it becomes a collegial conversation with more opportunities to build trust, ask follow ups, and clarify ideas. The workshop closes with a short activity to guide goal setting and help attendees leave with a reasonable action plan anchored with a deeper understanding of UDL.
How do I use UDL in the workshop design?
I picked four checkpoints to focus on during the design of this workshop:
Optimize relevance, value, and authenticity
Foster collaboration and community
Activate or supply background knowledge
Guide appropriate goal setting
Who is the best fit for this workshop?
